Airport Reef is located off the end of the Wellington Airport runway/breakwater, out from Lyall Bay. It features a big peak with right and left-handers. The wave dredges up for a gnarly drop-in, then into a fat wall. Can get heavy close-outs. Leave this one to the experts.

From Wellington City, head southeast on State Highway 1, then turn right onto Kilbirnie Crescent. Continue onto Evans Bay Parade and onto Onepu Road, down to Lyall Bay. Turn left onto Lyall Bay Road and continue onto Moa Point Road, alongside the airport runway. Continue out to the end of the airport and find a park.
