Wainuiototo Bay

Wainuiototo Bay is a beach break on a sandy beach and right hand point, also known as New Chums, it is located just north of Whangapoua. Wainuiototo Bay has several peaks along the beach to choose from with both right and left handers. The best break is the right hand point at the south eastern end of the beach. Wainuiototo Bay is a fairly sheltered beach and needs a decent swell to get it working. The wave is punchy and fun. Coromandel beaches are popular, so Know the rules and respect the locals. Good for beginner to expert surfers.

Directions 

Wainuiototo Bay is located on the east side of the Coromandel peninsula, near the northern tip, off State Highway 25. From Thames head north on Queen Street, State Highway 25. You will go round the northern tip of the Coromandel Peninsula towards the east side. Turn left onto Whangapoua Road. Turn right onto Tangiora Avenue, then continue onto Mangakahia Drive and along to the end of the beach. From here it is a 10-15min walk north to the next bay, Wainuiototo Bay.
