Blue Cliffs

Blue Cliffs is a beach break on a sandy beach, located near the mouth of the Waiau River, in Te Waewae Bay. There You can surf anywhere along this stretch of coastline. The Waiau River mouth is one of the better spots with good right handers into the river mouth. There are lots of other peaks down the beach to choose from, with both right and left handers on offer. At the western end of the beach it can get a bit more sheltered with some good peaks. The waves can be inconsistant, but when the conditions are right there are some good, punchy, fun waves. Godd for surfers of all levels. It gets colder down this area, so wear plenty of rubber. River mouths often have strong currents and rips, so watch out.
