Awatoto
Awatoto is a beach break, on a shingle beach, located at the Awatoto Rivermouth. There are several peaks to enjoy and the wave is powerful, with hollow barrels. Variable banks which change often, especially when the river mouth gets dug out. Good for intermediate to expert surfers. Be careful, river mouths often have strong currents or rips.

Napier head south on Marine Parade, State Highway 2, out of Napier. Continue through Awatoto village and just before you get to the next River, where the fertilizer plant and industrial area are, turn left and make your way down to the beach beside the river.
