Waikari
Waikari is a beach break on a sandy beach at the Waikari river mouth. There are several peaks along the beach to choose from with both right and left handers. The wave is punchy and fun. Good for intermediate to expert surfers. River mouths often have strong currents and rips, so watch out.

Directions
From Napier city head west on Thackeray Street, then continue onto Hyderabad Road, State Highway 2. Continue on State Highway 2, then turn right onto Main North Road, State Highway 2 out of Napier heading north. Continue north until you get to Putorino and turn right onto Waikare Road, which will turn to gravel. The road will wind its way down near the beach and river, where you will have to park up and continue on foot for the last approx 2kms to the river mouth.
