O'Neills Reef
O'Neills Reef is a left hand point break off a rocky point at the northern end of the bay, located on O'Neills Ave. The wave is fast and hollow, with a steep drop in. Watch out for shallow rocks off the point. Good for intermediate to expert surfers. This break can get really crowded, so know the rules and repect the locals.

O'neills Reef is located near Takapuna, north of Devonport on Auckland's east coast.
From Auckland, head north on Auckland Northern Motorway, State Highway 1, over the Auckland Harbour Bridge. Take exit 420, then turn right onto Esmonde Road. Turn left onto Barrys Point Road, then right onto Anzac Street. Turn left onto Hurstmere Road at the round about, then right onto O'Neills Ave, down to the beach and the reef is right out in front.
