Whatipu is a right hand point break on a sandy beach, located on the north side of the Manukau Harbour entrance. The wave is hollow and powerful, with a steep fast drop in and barrels on offer. Requires incoming tide. strong currents. Advanced to expert surfers only.

Whatipu is located on the north side of the Manukau Harbour entrance.
From Auckland head west on the North Western Motorway, State Highway 16. Take exit 8 left onto Great North Road. Continue onto Ash Street, then onto Rata Street, and onto Titirangi Road. Turn left onto Huia Road and follow this through Huia. Turn right onto Whatipu Road down to the end of the road. From here its a walk over the dunes to the beach.
